United Grocers

United Grocers, established in Edmonton in the fall of 1987, began as a joint venture among a group of Chinese grocery store owners from Calgary, including the Wong family. The store quickly became a cornerstone of the community, offering a wide range of fresh produce, seafood, and meats at reasonable prices, and was open year-round to serve local residents.
In 1993, United Grocers underwent a significant transformation, expanding into a traditional Ming-style building that features a striking facade with red columns and a green tile roof. This expansion not only increased retail space but also introduced a pharmacy and residential apartments, solidifying its status as a vital community hub within Edmonton's Chinatown.
