Closed: Thanksgiving until early June Imagine hiking to one of Canada's oldest and highest tea houses! Lake Agnes Tea House is family run tea house in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. To reach Lake Agnes, you will undertake a forested 3.5 km (2.25 mile) hike with an elevation gain of 400 m. (1,300 ft). Situated at an altitude of 2,135 m. (7,005 ft), the Lake Agnes Tea House is located in a lovely hanging valley on the shores of Lake Agnes, which is surrounded by craggy peaks and breathtaking views. Once you arrive at Lake Agnes, you can take comfort in knowing the baker, who is one of the owners, started baking fresh bread, homemade soup and mountain treats at 4:30 a.m. on their propane stove. With no running water or electricity and all the fresh food carries up in the staff's backs, life at Lake Agnes Tea House is an adventure. The dishes are done by hand and all of the orders such as sandwiches, tea biscuits, mountain bars and tea are made to order. Cash only & hike with plenty of water.
