Communication Improvement Program
The Institute for Stuttering Treatment and Research (ISTAR) is a self-funded institute affiliated with the University of Alberta's Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, dedicated to providing specialized treatment for individuals of all ages who stutter. In addition to treatment, ISTAR conducts research, offers professional training for speech-language pathology students and clinicians, and promotes public awareness of stuttering and its treatment.
With over 31 years of experience, ISTAR aims to transform lives by preventing and remediating stuttering, while enhancing communication skills. The institute relies heavily on community support and donations to reduce financial barriers to treatment, making its services more accessible to those in need.
