Calgary's Union Cemetery, located between Spiller Road and Macleod Trail S.E., has been a place of heritage and tradition since it first opened in 1890. This historic cemetery is the final resting place for many of Calgary's founders and pioneers, offering in-ground burial plots, columbaria for cremated remains, and a military field of honour.
With a physical area of 19.1 hectares and over 21,200 burials, Union Cemetery provides a serene space for reflection and remembrance. Visitors can explore the grounds, participate in free historical cemetery walking tours during the summer, and learn about the rich history of Calgary through the stories of those laid to rest here.
