The Bodo Archaeological Site & Centre offers a unique opportunity for visitors to engage with history through interactive archaeology programs. Situated in East Central Alberta, the site is one of the largest and most well-preserved archaeological areas in Western Canada, dating back as early as 5000 years ago.

One of the notable features of the site is the evidence of a “bison pound” where hundreds of bison were corralled and killed at once, a practice that continued over the last 500 years. Visitors can actively participate in ongoing archaeological excavations and contribute to the exploration of Alberta’s intriguing past.

With daily-guided tours, adult and kids dig camps, and school programs, the Bodo Archaeological Site and Centre provides a range of hands-on activities for families and schools. A visit to this off-the-beaten-path location promises a journey back in time or a chance to soak in the tranquil beauty of the Alberta Plains, perhaps even under the stars in a tipi. Discover this archaeological gem in Alberta!
