Aseniwuche Winewak Nation (AWN) is a nonprofit society located in Grande Cache, Alberta, representing over 500 individuals with a unique history and ancestry tied to the Rocky Mountains. The organization evolved from seven communities into a national identity, focusing on education, cultural preservation, and uniting its members while advocating for environmental stewardship.
Rooted in the traditions of the Aseniwuche Winewak, or Rocky Mountain People, the Nation has worked to maintain its Cree way of life despite historic disruptions. Governed by an elected President and Board of Directors, AWN has been dedicated to providing essential programming and services to support the well-being of its members for nearly three decades.
