La Petite Roer
B&B La Petite Roer is located in a beautifully renovated farmhouse dating back to 1781, it offers three spacious rooms with their own shower- or bathroom. La Petite Roer is in Sourbrodt, uniquely situated in the rugged High Fens, between the Ardennes and the German Eifel. The High Fens is a peat moor at 600-700 meters above sea-level, with it's own climate and it's own flora and fauna. It is one of the very few remaining areas of wilderness in north western Europe and offers you tranquility, unspoilt beauty and space. We welcome children from the age of 12. We, Elaine Meuldijk & Rogier Pitlo, decided to run La Petite Roer as sustainable as possible, without concessions to the comfort of our guests. For the renovation of the house, we used eco-friendly materials. We put up solar-panels, supplying most of the electricity for La Petite Roer and for Wild Cat, our self-catering holiday cottage situated in our garden. Most of the food we serve is organic, we have our own free-range and organic-fed chickens and we have started growing our own organic vegetables to cover part of our and our guests needs. The area is ideal for walking, cycling and mountainbiking, as well as for bird watching and nature photography. The Vennbahn, running from Aachen in Germany to Trois Vierges in Luxemburg passes at a kilometer from La Petite Roer. This award winning long distance cyle path (European cycle path of the year in 2014) runs on a former railroad track and makes for easy cycling through this beautiful part of the world.
