Theatermuseum

At the Palais Lobkowitz, just a few steps from the Hofburg Palace, the Theatermuseum conveys a sense of the history of theatre from the late 15th century through to contemporary experimental theatre as well as the vast diversity of theatre genres, showcased here in temporary exhibitions. Take an intimate look behind the doors of a historic Viennese palace, immerse yourself in the world of the Lobkowitz family and discover masterpieces by major Viennese artists. The opulence of the baroque architecture provides a stunning visual experience from the moment you step into the building. A special highlight of the tour is the Jugendstil painting Nuda Veritas, one of the best-known works by Gustav Klimt. Admire this masterpiece and learn more about its meaning and symbolism. Another highlight is the Eroica Hall, named after Beethoven’s celebrated Eroica Symphony, which was performed here for the very first time.
