Pension Sandbur Das Walserhaus

The Walserhaus Sandbur is quietly and yet very centrally located in the heart of Lech, just a two-minutes walk from the lift and cable car facilities, the ski school and the historic center with its attractive restaurants and bars, après-ski bars and shops. Our house is perfect for families (the ski kindergarten is right next door), for solo travelers and for couples. It is also possible to rent the entire house on request. Five rooms, each one an expression of the local tradition, reflected in the construction and the materials of the interiors, equipped with bathrooms with shower or bath, and all modern amenities, including free Wi-Fi. Located in the historical centre of the village on the slightly elevated plateau of the church area, the views of the old and new Church, the old Tannberg and the historic Messmer stable as well as the snow-covered mountains are unique. Today, the Sandbur is one of the few Walser houses still almost completely preserved. The name Sandbur is derived from the "Sandbauer". A small sandy island in the nearby river Lech gave the house its name. It was demolished in 1577 in Älpele, 4 kilometres away - probably because of the too great avalanche danger there - and rebuilt right next to the village church of Sankt Nikolaus in Lech. Today it belong to the historical ensemble of the centre of Lech, together with the old school, the old court and the Messmer stable. Originally managed as an agricultural estate, it was the only source of income for the ancestors of Eugen Elsensohn, the grandfather of the current owner, Birgit Elsensohn, who took it over from her father in the fourth generation in 2018.
